Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled polymer suitable for producing polyurethanes having excellent heat and hydrolytic resistance, by adding a specific amount of a titanium based catalyst to a dialkyl carbonate, etc., reacting a polyhydroxy compound therewith and deactivating the catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: (B) A titanium compound (e.g. titanium trichloride) in an amount of 0.0001W0.5wt.% based on (A) a dialkyl carbonate, diaryl carbonate or alkylene carbonate is added to the component (A) and then (C) a polyhydroxy compound (e.g. 1,3-propane diol) in an amount of preferably 1W30wt.% stoichiometric excess based on the component (A) is added and reacted therewith. (D) Water in an amount of preferably 0.01W≥5wt.% based on the reaction product is subsequently added and treated at 60W300°C and water is then removed under reduced pressure to afford the aimed polyol.
