Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure space at the inside of vehicle and to increase suspension stroke by arranging a shock absorber having non-linear spring characteristic and damping force characteristic under the floor and coupling through a link mechanism for converting up/down motion of wheel into horizontal motion with a wheel bearing section. CONSTITUTION:A shock absorber 5 comprising a damper 6 and a coil spring 7 is arranged horizontally under the floor face of body, and link members 31, 32 are stretched between the outer end of the damper 6 and the intermediate portion of a lower arm 13. When a wheel 23 moves up and down, longitudinal motion of the lower arm 13 is converted into expanding/shrinking motion of a coil spring 7 and a lateral damper 6 through rolling motion of a lever type first link 31 and a triangular second link 32 in arrow direction, so as to provide non-linear damping characteristic of the damper 6 and spring characteristic of the coil spring 7. With such arrangement, wheel house size is reduced to ensure space inside of vehicle, and suspension stroke can be increased.
