Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain sure shading correction by devising it that a reflected light from a shading correction reference face is to be read during the scanning of an original. CONSTITUTION:The positions of two read lines are decided so as to make the luminous quantity from the light source 10 equal and the one reads an original read line l1 and the other always reads a white reference board 8 moved together with the 1st carriage 9 (line l2). The two separate optical paths are set and two CCDs 1a,1b are set and one of the two CCDs is used exclusively for original reading (1a) and the other is used exclusively for white read (1b). Thus, the reflected light from the shading correction reference face 8 is to be read during the scanning of original. Thus, the shading correction is applied in real time during the original read with simple circuit constitution and the unevenness due to luminous fluctuation of the light source is eliminated.
