Abstract

PURPOSE: To transmit PCM sound signals and data signals, by encoding the PCM sound signals and data signals with (272, 190) codes and successively transmitting the encoded signals in a direction oblique to the encoding direction.
CONSTITUTION: After sending out a framing code (FC) 201 and mode control code (MC) 202 as they are, signals are fetched one bit by one bit in the oblique direction from the upper left corner to the lower right corner as shown by the arrows and sent. Namely, one frame is completed in such a way that signals are sent along the arrow 301 first and, while the signals move rightward, the sending path is moved from the 302 to 303, and finally, the sending path is moved from the 304 to 305. Thus bit signals are successively fetched and transmitted in the oblique direction which is different not only from the longitudinal direction, along which the sound signal sample of a sound signal section 203 is arranged, but also from the transverse direction, along which PCM sound signals and data signals are encoded with (272, 190) codes.
