Abstract

PURPOSE: To surely and quickly set an automatic equalizer circuit to a collection operating state, by using a stepped-wave generator as the signal generator which generates signals to be supplied to a carrier reproducing device.
CONSTITUTION: Modulated waves 101 which are distorted in waveform are inputted to an automatic equalizer circuit 1 and outputted to a demodulator 2 after the waveform distortion is equalized by the circuit 1. The output signal 107 of an asynchronism detector 3 functions as the control signal of a stepped- wave generator 5. Namely, the generator 5 generates stepped-wave signals 106 at the time of asynchronism and outputs the signals 106 to a carrier reproducing device 4. Since a fixed time area having no amplitude fluctuation is secured with respect to the time base as at Points (a) and (b) of the figure when such stepped-wave signals 106 are used, highest-level error information with high accuracy is obtained during the period and reduction of speed becomes unnecessary. Therefore, the automatic equalizer can surely and quickly execute pulling-in operations.
