Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce noise by providing a sloped wall over a part of an angular range extending from a nose portion of a scroll casing where scrolling begins to a position where the scrolling ends. CONSTITUTION:A scroll casing 2 is pressed inward along an edge between an apex wall 5 and a side wall 6 of the scroll casing 2 over a specified angle starting from a nose portion 8 in the direction of rotation of a fan 1 to form a sloped wall 10. The angle is made to be a part of the angular range extending from the scroll start position to the scroll end position of the scroll casing 2. As a result, dead area of fluid is reduced and turbulent flow within the scroll casing is restricted.
