A fuel filter is a filter element disposed within a casing and is used to filter fuel from an internal combustion engine. Such a fuel filter is provided with means for separating and discharging moisture contained in the fuel. Water separation is performed by a water repellent material or an inertial separation structure, and drainage is performed by a drain plug provided at the bottom of the casing. Further, the fuel filter is provided with water level detection means for detecting the water level of the separated water and means for notifying the state that the water level has reached a predetermined level.

A conventional fuel filter is known in which a water level detection means is provided at the center bottom of the casing, and drainage means such as a drain plug is separately provided at the bottom around the water level detection means. Furthermore, a simpler structure was developed in 1975, by integrating the water level detection means and the discharge means.
- Shown in Publication No. 102916. however,
A filter having such a structure has the following drawbacks. That is, when draining water by manually operating a drainage means such as a drain plug, the drained water that flows out will stain the operator's hands. Furthermore, when the drainage means is rotated to drain water, the water level detection means also rotates at the same time, which impedes smooth drainage work.

In view of the above, the present application provides a fuel filter having a structure in which a water level detecting means and a draining means are integrated, and which enables a draining operation without overflowing the drained water to the outside.

The drainage means 2 as described above is screwed into a screw hole provided at the bottom of the casing 3 of the filter body 1.
The inside of the casing 3 and the central opening 23 of the drainage section 2 are as follows:
The communication holes 39 communicate with each other. A drain hose (not shown) is connected to the drain pipe 30 and extends to, for example, outside the engine room. The fuel filter 10 is used with a predetermined voltage applied between the detection body 16 of the water level detection section 11 and the casing 3. Fuel flows into the casing 3 through the opening 7 of the lid 5, flows through the filter element 4, and flows out from the screw hole 6 of the lid 5. Water droplets dispersed in the fuel are separated by inertia or by a water repellent provided on the filter element 4 when the flow path is reversed, and are separated and deposited on the bottom of the casing 3. As the separation progresses and the water level of the separated water rises and reaches the upper end of the water level detection unit 11, the casing 3 and the detection body 16
electrically conducts through the water, activating an alarm (not shown). In this state, when the handle part 36 is operated to rotate the valve body 31 and move the valve body 31 to the right, the drain pipe 30 and the inside of the casing 3 are communicated through the central opening 23, and the separated water is transferred to the drain pipe 3.
0 and is discharged outside the engine room. When the water level inside the casing 3 falls, the valve body 31
Move to the left to block the waterway. When the filter element 4 reaches a predetermined clogging state, the drainage means 2
is removed from the filter body 1, and the filter body 1 is removed from the filter body 1.
will be discarded only.

As described above, the fuel filter of the present invention has a draining means that integrates a water level detection means and a draining means, and the draining means is equipped with a drain pipe equipped with a valve body. To prevent water from overflowing outside the drainage means and staining the operator's hands. Furthermore, since the valve body and the water level detection means do not rotate together when the valve body is rotated, the fear that the water level detection means will come off the filter during drainage operation is eliminated.
