The present invention relates to an image projection device for a projection television receiver. In general, image projection devices in projection television receivers are broadly classified into front projection types and back projection types, depending on the type of projection screen used.
This will be explained with reference to FIG. 1. In the former case, a spherical reflection type screen 1 made of a concave light reflection body is used, and in the latter case, a flat transmission type screen 2 made of a light transmission body is used. However, the image from the projection type picture tube 4 having the fluorescent surface 3 is reflected by the concave mirror 5 and then projected onto the screen 1 or 2 through the aberration correction lens 6. The viewer is located on the front side of the screen 2, and the viewer in the rear projection type is located on the back side of the screen 2. As described above, there are two types of image projection devices, and in order to project a clear image without deviation on the projection screen, the fluorescent surface 3 of the projection picture tube 4 must be the same as that of the projection screen used. It follows that it must have a radius of curvature R 2 suitable for the radius of curvature. However, in order to switch the radius of curvature of the fluorescent surface 3 depending on the type of projection screen, it is necessary to prepare at least two types of projection picture tubes, which is extremely wasteful. Note that R s in the figure is the radius of curvature of the projection screen 1,
R O is the radius of curvature of the concave mirror 5, R 1 is the distance between the aberration correction lens 6 and the fluorescent surface 3, and L is the screen 1.
or the mutual distance between 2 and the aberration correction lens 6,
l is the moving distance when the correction lens 6 moves to position 7, T O is the thickness of the center part of the aberration correction lens 6,
D O indicates the diameter of the concave mirror 5. The present invention has been made for the purpose of solving the conventional inconveniences as described above.According to the present invention, an aberration correction lens is installed on the optical axis between the projection type picture tube and the projection screen in the optical axis direction. be installed so that it can be moved. With this configuration, even if the type of projection screen used changes, a clear image can be projected on the screen simply by selecting the position of the aberration correction lens on the optical axis. Next, the reason for this will be explained based on the data shown in Table 1. First, the distance r from the center of the aberration correction lens 6
The thickness T(r) of the lens in is expressed by the following equation. Here, T O is the thickness of the aberration correction lens 6 at the center, and R O is the radius of curvature of the concave mirror 5. In equation (1), since r/R O ≦1, the value of aN(r/R O ) 2N is N(
1 to 9), the smaller it becomes, and the degree to which it contributes to determining the shape of the aberration correction lens becomes smaller. That is, when comparing the shapes of two lenses, out of the curvature coefficients a 1 , a 2 ...a 9 of the aberration correction lens, a 1 ,
It is sufficient to compare only a 2 and a 3 .

[Table] Referring to Table 1, screen curvature radius R s /
Comparing the curvature coefficients a 1 , a 2 . . . a 9 of the aberration correction lens for a front projection screen with an R O of 6.667 and a back projection screen with an infinite screen radius of curvature R s /R O , respectively. low-order coefficient a 1 ,
It can be seen that there is no significant difference between a 2 and a 3 . Although there is a considerable difference between the high-order coefficients a 4 , a 5 . . . a 9 , the influence on the determination of the curved surface of the aberration correction lens is extremely small as described above. From the above, for two types of projection screens 1 and 2 with different radii of curvature, the aberration correction lens 6
The position X occupied by the aberration correction lens 6 without changing the radius of curvature of X and the radius of curvature of the fluorescent surface 3, respectively.
A clear image can be projected on either of the two types of projection screens 1 and 2 by only changing l /R O. In order to install the aberration correction lens in a movable manner,
In the configuration shown in FIG. 2, an aberration correcting lens 8 is movably attached to a concave mirror 9 and a fluorescent surface 10 of a projection type picture tube. That is, the concave mirror 9 and the picture tube are attached to the fixed frame 11.
The aberration correcting lens 8 is attached to a movable frame 12 which is screwed into the movable frame 12 and is movable in the direction of the optical axis Z-Z'. However, the curvature coefficient of the aberration correction lens 8 is 2
It is set to an intermediate value between the two types of aberration correction lens curvature coefficients suitable for each of the types of screens 1 and 2. The aberration correction lens 8 when using the front projection screen 1 is set, for example, at position A, and the aberration correction lens 8 when using the back projection screen 2 is set to, for example, position A.
For example, it is set to position B. Since the image projection device of the present invention is configured as described above, even when using any of a plurality of projection screens having different radii of curvature, a clear image can be projected on the projection screen without replacing the picture tube. It becomes possible to do so.
