Abstract

PURPOSE:To avoid the need of the adhesive applying process onto a resinous material body by allowing a skin member to firmly adhere onto the resinous material body covering the whole periphery of the ring part of a steering wheel. CONSTITUTION:As for the ring part A of a steering wheel, the resinous material body covering a skin member 3 is constituted of the synthetic resin material having the low adhesiveness such as polypropylene, and an adhesive piece made of the synthetic resin having the high adhesiveness such as ABS resin and PS resin is installed onto a part of the surface of the above-described synthetic resin body by fitting an installation leg part 4' into the groove part 2' of a resin body 2. After an adhesive 6 is applied at least onto the surface of an adhesive piece 4, using a part of the surface of the reinous material body as the adhesive piece 4, adhesive solidification is executed and covering is performed in the state in which the skin member is wound.

As shown in FIG. 3, for example, a leather-wrapped steering wheel for an automobile includes a boss portion C, spoke portions B extending from the boss portion C, and a ring portion A supported by the spoke portions B. The ring portion A was constructed by covering a core metal with a synthetic resin material and further covering it with a skin material.

From the viewpoint of necessary functions for a steering wheel, such as heat and cold resistance, impact resistance, and strength, as well as material costs, olefin-based synthetic resins such as PP (polypropylene) are used.

In addition, to cover the steering wheel with the skin material, in order to prevent the skin material from shifting or twisting when the steering wheel is operated, the skin material is wrapped around the ring part and a considerable amount of tension is applied to both ends. The pieces were sewn together while being stretched. Therefore, it takes a lot of time to sew the skin of a single leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the work requires strength and skill.

Therefore, it has been desired to cover the skin material only with an adhesive or to prevent it from turning with an adhesive so that the ends of the skin material can be sewn together in a simple manner.

However, olefin-based synthetics such as PP used in conventional steering wheels48! Since fat has extremely poor adhesion, it requires pretreatment to improve adhesion before coating the skin material. In other words, the surface has been roughened to give it an anchor function, degreased and cleaned to make it easier to bond, or treated with a primer to give it adhesion, but these pre-treatments have extremely poor adhesion. In addition to being an extra process due to the scarcity, it was also complicated in terms of process control and increased processing costs.

In addition, as a surface modification treatment to impart adhesion to PP resin materials, etc., which generally have poor adhesion, it is possible to adopt chromic acid treatment, corona discharge treatment, plasma treatment, fire treatment, etc., but none of them are effective. This complicates the process and increases the bonding cost.

The main body of the resin material covered with the skin material is made of a synthetic resin material with low adhesiveness such as polypropylene, and a part of its surface is covered with
ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene)
An adhesive piece made of resin or a highly adhesive synthetic resin such as PS (polystyrene) resin is fitted onto the mounting leg 4'' in the groove 2'' of the resin main body 2, as shown in FIG. 1(a), for example. A part of the surface of the resin material main body 2 is used as the adhesive piece 4, and after applying adhesive 6 to at least the surface of the adhesive piece 4, the skin material is wrapped around it and hardened to cover it. 44
=h Since the skin material is now firmly bonded, it is possible to omit the sewing of the skin material with thread, and the adhesive can prevent it from turning, so even if a seam surface is required for the design. , there is no need to pull and sew. In addition, by simply fitting the adhesive piece 4 onto the resin main body 2, there is no need to perform a complicated and costly adhesion improvement treatment on the resin main body 2.

In each of the above cases, thread stitching 7 was applied to the end abutment line 3° of the skin material 3 in the same way as in the previous skin-wrapped steering wheel, but this strengthened the adhesion between the ABS resin adhesive piece and the skin material 3. Since it has become possible to carry out this method, a thread stitching pattern may be applied to both TGI edges of the skin material in advance, and the tensioning of the skin material 3 may be achieved only by adhesion, and the thread sewing means may be omitted.

Moreover, the adhesive 6 between the resin material main body and the skin material 3 is AB
Applying the adhesive 6 not only to the adhesive surface of the adhesive piece made of S resin (it is also possible to apply it even to the surface of the resin material body, but if you apply the adhesive 6 over a too wide area, it may be difficult to wind the skin material 3). The slippage between the skin material 3 and the resin material body becomes poor, and the skin material 3

The resin main body of at least the ring part A of the steering wheel is made of a synthetic resin with low adhesiveness, and a piece of adhesive with good adhesiveness such as ABS resin is fitted on a part of the surface, or it is integrally molded. Since the adhesive piece and the skin material are bonded together, it is possible to eliminate the conventionally troublesome thread sewing work due to the strong adhesion of the skin material, and the adhesive prevents the skin material from turning and twisting. Therefore, even if the design requires seaming surfaces, there is no need to pull and sew them together, the thread stitching can be done only for formal purposes, and the covering of the skin material can be done easily and quickly.
