PURPOSE:To cheaply obtain a valve seat of large heat resistance and high durability, by forming a valve seat mounting part in a cylinder head by cutting thereafter padding a valve seat member, consisting of hard material, by laser onto the valve seat mounting part to form the valve seat. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder head 1 forms a mounting part 1a for a valve seat 2 by cutting to be finished to a size considering the padding thickness of a valve seat member 6. And the valve seat member 6, consisting of hard material of stellite, tungsten carbide, etc., is padded by laser onto the mounting part 1a of the valve seat 2, thus forming the valve seat 2. In this way, the cylinder head 1, having the valve seat 2 of large heat resistance and high durability, can be cheaply obtained while the cylinder head is prevented from decreasing its own strength.
