Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance printed density, by providing heat generating resistors connected between first electrode parts and second electrode parts provided in a row adjacent to the first electrode parts. CONSTITUTION:This thermal head comprises a diagonal heat generating resistor 3a connected between a first electrode part 1b and a second electrode part 2a, a diagonal heat generating resistor 3b connected between a first electrode part 1c and a second electrode part 2b, and a diagonal heat generating resistor 3c connected between a first electrode part 1d and a second electrode part 2c. Electric currents are passed to the heat generating resistors 3a, 3b by impressing voltages between the first electrode parts 1b, 1c, 1d and the second electrode parts 2a, 2b, 2c according to a predetermined information signal. When the quantity of the electric currents is small, dots in the regions indicated by solid lines are formed. When the quantity of the electric currents is large for printing a high-density part, dots in the regions indicated by one-dot chained lines are formed. Accordingly, at the high-density part, the adjacent dots overlap on each other, and not any unprinted part is left between the heat generating parts, so that high-density printing can be performed, and smooth printing can be performed.

The thermal head according to the present invention includes: a plurality of first electrode parts; a plurality of second electrode parts provided approximately in the same row as the first electrode parts; Since the heating resistor is connected between the first electrode section and the second electrode section in the adjacent row, when printing using such a thermal head, it is difficult to print in a high concentration area. Cross-over of the printed dots occurs, increasing the printing density, and
The resulting printed image has features such as being smooth.
