Since the caissons are arranged in a line at regular intervals, it is necessary to seal the joints between the caissons to prevent dirt from washing away from the gaps.

Due to subsidence, etc., the gap between the joints widens, and the tip of the seal rubber fixed to one wall cannot reach the other wall, causing the joint seal to lose its effectiveness. Furthermore, the conventional joint seals mentioned above need to be attached to the wall before installing the caissons, etc.
There was also a risk of damage to the caisson etc. during installation work.

It consists of a mounting part extending from the upper end of the letter to both sides, and the distal end of the mounting part has a cross-sectional shape with a widened enlarged part. The gist is a joint seal structure in which the enlarged part is fitted into the enlarged part in a groove for attaching a seal to seal the joint part.

An enlarged part (10) of sealing rubber may be inserted into the enlarged part (6) of the groove, and the gap between the inner surface of the enlarged part (6) and the enlarged part (lO) may be filled with asphalt or hexarutal. Further, as shown in Fig. 3, a hollow hole (12) is provided in the center of the enlarged portion (10) along the longitudinal direction, and after the seal rubber is installed, a metal pipe (13), metal rod, asphalt, etc. is inserted into the hollow hole. It is also possible to press fit and expand the enlarged part (101) so that it comes into close contact with the enlarged part (6) of the groove.

Complete watertightness is possible just by inserting it. Attach the seal so that the inside of the 7-shaped or U-shaped cross section of the extensible part (8) of the seal faces toward the side where water pressure or earth and sand pressure is applied from the outside. Then, the seal rubber will be stretched by the pressure and the seal rubber will expand. Since the proximal end of the portion (10) is brought into close contact with the inner surface of the enlarged portion (6) of the groove (4), watertightness is naturally achieved. Furthermore, water-tightness can be made more complete by using water-swellable rubber in the enlarged part or by filling the gap between the enlarged parts with asphalt or the like.
