Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain not only the light emitting spectrum of each light emitting diode but also the composite spectrum for each of them by a method wherein a plurality of light emitting diode chips having different light emitting spectrums are incorporated in a case, and the brightness of each light emitting diode chip is properly controlled. CONSTITUTION:Light emitting diode chips 1-3 are the chips having different light emitting spectrums, the back side (cathode) of each chip is connected to a metal stem 4, and also it is connected to an external terminal 6. The upper surface (anode) of the light emitting diode chips 1-3 are connected to outer terminals 7-9 respectively through the intermediary of a bonding wire 5. As a result, the color of emitted light can be obtained arbitrarily from single color to composite color, and the title diode can be constituted in the size almost same as that of the light emitting diode heretofore in use.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] [Industrial Application Field] The present invention relates to a multicolor light source, and is characterized in that the point light source itself emits a wide variety of colors. To provide a display lamp capable of expression or a lamp for decoration. Furthermore, if a large number of light emitting diodes according to the present invention are used as picture elements and assembled, a 2-color display can be constructed using conventional techniques.

The light emitting diode of the present invention can obtain any light emitting color from a single color to a composite color by incorporating multiple light emitting diode chips with different light emitting colors into one case and controlling the brightness of each chip. With this structure, it can be constructed with a size comparable to that of a conventional light emitting diode.

As explained above, the present invention incorporates a plurality of light emitting diode chips with different emission spectra into one case, and by controlling the brightness of each light emitting diode chip, it is possible to control not only the emission spectrum of each light emitting diode but also the luminance of each light emitting diode chip. , a composite spectrum of each can also be obtained, and there is an effect that an arbitrary emission spectrum can be obtained with the same size as that of a conventional light emitting diode.
