This invention relates to the improvement of platinum alloys used as materials for cufflinks, watch frames, watch bands, lighters, writing utensils, eyeglass frames, earrings, etc.
(従来技術とその問題点)
従来、上述の如き装飾品材料としては白金−パラジウム

This alloy has excellent workability and castability, but because of its low mechanical strength and particularly low hardness, it is easily scratched and stamped during polishing, and is difficult to produce gloss, and is used as a finished product. Rings with jewels also have the disadvantage that the part that holds the jewel in place loosens and the jewel can fall off.

(発明の構成)
本発明による装飾用白金合金は、白金84〜96重量%

よりなる時効硬化特性を具備したものである。(Structure of the Invention) The decorative platinum alloy according to the present invention has a platinum content of 84 to 96% by weight.
, gallium 2-10% by weight, chromium 0.5-10% by weight
This material has age hardening properties.

物を作り、加工性が悪くなるからである。The reason why gallium is added to the decorative platinum alloy according to the present invention is that, as is clear from the Pt-Ga binary phase diagram, Ga has a maximum solid solution amount of 6% by weight at 1361°C with respect to pt. This is because its solid solubility limit gradually decreases as the temperature decreases, and when it is aged at an appropriate temperature after being subjected to solution treatment in which it is heated to a solid solution region and rapidly cooled, it exhibits remarkable age hardening properties. If the amount added is less than 2% by weight, there will be little improvement in hardness, and if it exceeds 10% by weight, pt and Ga will form an intermetallic compound, resulting in poor workability.
またクロムを添加した理由は、クロムは脱酸効果があり

らである。The reason for adding chromium is that chromium has a deoxidizing effect, can suppress oxygen concentration during casting, improves castability, and prevents coarsening of crystal grains at high temperatures (for example, during soldering), making it easier to machine. This is to prevent a decrease in mechanical strength; if the amount added is less than 0.5% by weight, there will be little improvement in hardness, and if the total amount exceeds 10%, the alloy will become too hard and workability will deteriorate. It is.
