Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate matching of pen positions by securing a monitor display for a character graphic recognizing frame when necessary and also to omit special frame paper, etc. and therefore to attain the quick and accurate input of characters. CONSTITUTION:A switch 3 works in response to the writing pressure of a pen. In other words, a signal R is kept at a low level as long as mere contact is secured between a tablet 1 and the pen top. Thus the coordinate output [x, y] is not equal to pattern information and the display of the corresponding frame can be recognized. When the writing pressure of the pen is increased, the signal R is turned to a high level. Then the output [x, y] is equal to the pattern information and the input of characters is possible. Here the frame once displayed is shown continuously regardless of the subsequent change of the output of the switch 3 until the pen top gets out of the area of the corresponding frame.

[Prior Art] Generally, in this type of information input device, input characters and figures are displayed at corresponding positions on a display device. Further, when this input is recognized, a frame is usually provided, and characters and figures within the frame are recognized, and if the position of the character or figure deviates from the recognition frame, it becomes unrecognizable. For this reason, in the past, a restriction was imposed on the inputter by placing a character frame sheet on the input unit, etc., and requiring the inputter to input characters or figures within the character frame.

In the CPU 4, various functional blocks are shown which are implemented by program execution. 7 is a pattern memory that stores input pattern information from the tablet l; 8 is a frame information memory that stores frame information such as the position, frame size, and shape of each frame when the surface of the tablet 1 is divided into frames; ,9
is a frame pattern generation unit that searches the frame information memory 8 using the coordinate information [x, yJ of the triplet) 1 output and generates the corresponding frame pattern at the corresponding position.

FIG. 2 is a flowchart showing the operation of the embodiment. In step Sl, coordinates are input from the tablet 1 [x, y
If there is a coordinate input with l, it is checked in step S2 whether or not it is a pattern input. When the switch 3 of the operating pen 2 is pressed, its output signal R goes to the HI'GH level, indicating that the coordinate outputs LX and yl are pattern information. Therefore, when inputting a turn ), the AND function 10 is satisfied and the process proceeds to step S6, where the coordinate L is stored in the pattern memory 7.

Further, when the switch 3 is not pressed, the signal R is at a LOW level, indicating that the coordinate output [x, y] is not pattern information. In this case, the AND function 11 is satisfied and the process proceeds to step S3, where the frame information memory 8 is searched using the coordinates tx, 71.

In step S4, a frame pattern is formed and held from the searched and read corresponding frame information (information such as display reference position, frame size, frame shape, etc.). In step S5, a frame pattern is displayed on the CRT display section 5.

It should be noted that such a switch 3 may be operated by movement according to pen pressure. That is, when the pen tip is simply touched on the tablet L, the signal R is at a LOW level and the coordinate output [X
, 71 is not pattern information, but the frame display can be confirmed. If you increase the pen pressure as it is, the signal R becomes HIGH level and the coordinate output [x, yl becomes pattern information,
It's like being able to input characters.

Further, the frame once displayed may continue to be displayed regardless of subsequent changes in the output of the switch 3 (even if a pattern is input) until the pen tip leaves the frame area.

! ! FIG. 83 is a diagram showing one mode of display. The character pattern "characters and figures" that have already been input is displayed as shown in the figure. Depending on the purpose, this display may be handwritten characters as they are in the input pattern or printed characters as a result of recognition. When the operator tries to input the next character and touches the pen tip on the tablet L without pressing the switch 3 of the operation pen 2, the corresponding frame 12
is displayed, and a dot K is temporarily displayed at the pressed point of the pen tip. Also, the display of the frame 12' that was previously displayed has disappeared.
