Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain permanently good image quality from a photosensitive member by rubbing respectively the front and rear surfaces of a blade in the thickness direction by using a film in the stage when the blade detaches from a photosensitive member thereby scrapping off the deposit. CONSTITUTION:A turning plate 20 energized by a spring member 25 in the direction of an arrow 56 turns around a stop pin 34, then the film 23 approaches to the rear surface 10a of the blade 9. The edge 23a of the film 23 rubs the rear surface 10a to scrape off the deposit. Since a shaft 14 turns in an arrow 54 direction, the edge 33a of the film 33 rubs the front surface 10b of the blade and therefore the deposit sticking to the blade 9 from the front 10b to the edge 10 is scraped off. The edge 33a rubs further the edge 10 and the edge 23a of the film 23 to scrape off the deposit. After the edge 10 of the blade 9 from which the deposit is scraped contacts with a photosensitive member 5 under the prescribed pressure, the member 5 turns in an arrow direction and the prescribed process is repeated. The toner image is thus formed and a toner removing device 1 is operated.

Electronic copying devices that are currently widely used include charging, exposure,
Copying is performed by repeating the steps of development, transfer, and toner removal, and among these steps, toner removal is also an important step. Many proposals have been made in the past as toner removal devices for removing deposits such as toner from photosensitive members. The most common method is the blade cleaning method, in which a blade made of an elastic material is used to scrape off the deposits from the surface of the photosensitive member. A method has been proposed in which the timing of contact and separation is adjusted so that no uncleaned portion is left on the surface of the photosensitive member.

The deposits mentioned above are mainly toner, but there is also paper dust present on the paper. If there are paper dust on the paper,
Since the transfer is performed by applying electric charge from the transfer corona discharger, the paper powder is also electrostatically charged and electrostatically attracted to the surface of the photoreceptor. This paper powder is in the form of fine threads of fibers that make up the paper, and is difficult to scrape off with the pressure force of the blade, and if it adheres to the edge of the blade, more paper powder will adhere and accumulate. As the amount of paper dust increases, the toner removal effect of the blade decreases.Furthermore, paper dust is hard, so if the edge part with paper dust attached is pressed against the surface of the photoreceptor for a long time, the paper dust will become attached to the photosensitive member. Since the surface is rubbed, scratches are caused on the surface of the photoreceptor. Therefore, the toner removal effect is reduced, which not only deteriorates the quality of copied or printed images but also shortens the life of the photosensitive member. Also, when scraping off toner with the edge of the blade, the toner slips through the scraping part, becoming so-called back-flowing toner, which accumulates in small amounts after long periods of use, and paper dust is removed when the toner is removed. There is also a problem in that it adheres to the surface of the photosensitive member and becomes an obstacle to charging the surface of the photosensitive member.

When copying or printing is completed, the photosensitive member 5 rotates by a predetermined angle and then stops in order to remove toner remaining on its surface. At this time, when the current to the solenoid (not shown) is cut off and the biasing force in the direction of arrow 53 disappears, it is rotated in the direction of arrow 54 by a spring (not shown), and the blade support member 12 is rotated as shown in FIG. The blade 9 is separated from the photosensitive member 5, and the edge portion 10 of the blade 9 is at the point m5.
Move on the trajectory shown by 1. The rotating plate 20, which is locked to a stop pin 34 provided at a position that does not interfere with the rotation of the blade 9 and is biased by the spring member 25 in the direction of the arrow 56, is rotated by the rotation of the blade support member 12. While waiting for the blade 9 to approach, the rotating plate 20 also rotates around the stop bin 34 as the support 19 moves, the first film 23 also approaches the back surface 10a of the blade 9, and finally the first film 23 approaches the back surface 10a of the blade 9. Approximately half of the back surface 10a of the blade 9 is rubbed by the edge portion 23a of the film 23.

The blade 9 according to this embodiment is made of an elastic material such as urethane, has a hardness of about 70 degrees, and is highly wear resistant. If the first and second films 23 and 33 that are rubbed against the blade 9 are made of the same material as the blade 9, frictional electricity will not be generated when they are rubbed against the blade 9 and the films will be scraped off. Electricity is generated and toner scatters. In order to prevent the toner from coming out of the device due to this toner scattering, a shielding film 1 is installed as shown in FIG.
1 to maintain airtightness between the photosensitive member 5 and the photosensitive member 5. The blade support member 12 is biased in the direction of the arrow 53, and the blade 9
When the bottle 16 is in a position to scrape off toner, the bottle 16 comes into contact with the upper inner surface 44a of the elongated hole 44 of the link 40, and the link 4
0 to push up the support member 35 to separate the shielding film 11 from the surface of the photosensitive layer 7 as shown in the figure.

It is brought into contact with no surface. Even if the position of the pin 16 is further rotated, since the support member 35 is suspended by the stop pin 42, the coil spring 46 is extended and the pin 16 moves downward in the elongated hole 44, and the overall movement is smooth. When you perform a movement, you can make a toe. Therefore, since the shielding film 11 is configured to come into contact with the photosensitive member 5 before the edge portion 23a of the first film 23 rubs against the blade 9, the scattered toner leaks from the toner removing device 1. Never. Further, the shielding film 11 is retracted from the photosensitive member 5 immediately before the blade 9 comes into contact with the photosensitive member 5 during the toner removal operation.
