Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize a wide band of a band-pass filter by placing a metallic plate for coupling input/output in parallel to the side face of a dielectric resonator. CONSTITUTION:A dielectric resonator 1 is placed in a metallic chassis 2, and the metallic chassis 2 is covered with a cover 3. To this cover 3, a screw 4 for adjusting a resonance frequency of the dielectric resonator 1 is attached. To the outside of both ends of the metallic chassis 2, an input/output connector 5 is attached, and on its inside, a metallic plate 7 for coupling electromagnetically this input/output connector 5 and the dielectric resonator 1 is provided. This metallic plate 7 is placed so as to become parallel to the side face of the dielectric resonator 1, therefore, a large electromagnetic coupling quantity is obtained, and a loss of a filter is decreased, by which its wide band is realized.

In such a conventional DR filter, there is little magnetic flux that intersects with the metal plate 6, and the coupling with the dielectric resonator 1 becomes weak. Therefore, there is a drawback that it is difficult to realize a wideband bandpass filter. Further, when the distance l between the dielectric resonator 1 and the metal plate 6 is shortened in order to strengthen the coupling, there is a drawback that the insertion loss of the DR filter increases due to the conductor loss of the metal plate 6.

A feature of the DR filter of the present invention is that the metal plate 7 of the input/output coupling section is arranged parallel to the side surface of the dielectric resonator 1. The input/output coupling state in such an arrangement is shown in FIG. 2, where the broken lines represent lines of magnetic force.

Therefore, as shown in FIG. 2, the decrease in the magnetic flux intersecting with the metal plate 7 is small, and the coupling with the dielectric resonator 1 can be strengthened compared to the arrangement of the metal plate 6 of the conventional DR filter. That is, if the distance β between the dielectric resonator 1 and the metal plate 6.7 is equal, the DR filter of the present invention has a larger coupling amount than the conventional DR filter.
Therefore, insertion loss can also be reduced.
