。(Structure of the Invention) In the present invention, a half mirror is placed in front of an observer, and an object or image is projected onto the half mirror surface from the observer's side to form a reflected image. Then, an object or an image plane is placed on the opposite side from the observer, and the reflected image formed on the half-mirror plane is superimposed on the object image or the image on the image plane seen through the 8-familar mirror. The image surface used is a color display that reproduces images based on signals from a video tape recorder, video disc player, etc., or a screen on which movies, slides, etc. are projected.

Then, when the viewer's side is darkened and the object is illuminated, a clear color display image and the object image are projected overlappingly on the half mirror. If the image on the color display is a dancer and the object is an apple, it looks like a dwarf is dancing on the apple.

The half mirror 2 has a thin film of titanium oxide deposited on a glass plate with a thickness of several millimeters so that the reflectance is 30% and the transmittance is 45%. Note that the reflectance and transmittance are determined by the image plane of the image devices disposed on both sides of the half mirror 2 and the brightness of the object. In practice, the reflectance is about 20 to 4% and the transmittance is about 35 to 55%. Outside these ranges, the brightness of the two images to be combined will be greatly different, and the overlapping images will look unnatural to the viewer. The thin film may be formed by an anodic oxidation method.

A video tape recorder (not shown) is connected to the color display 3. In order to obtain sharp images, it is desirable that the color display 3 has high brightness and high resolution.

Only that area is brightened by lighting 6. When an image A is projected on a color display 3 by a video tape recorder, a reflected image B is formed on a half mirror 2. When viewed from the observer M, the reflected image B appears as an image C on the other side of the half mirror 2. At this time, as mentioned above, the interval d and the interval d'
are equal to each other, so the image C appears to be exactly above the juice can 5.
