PURPOSE:To detect automatically an original size by burying plural infrared ray- reflective sensors on the glass-size face of a cover, which retains a originals on a platen glass of a copying machine, through an infrared ray-transmissive film. CONSTITUTION:An original 3 is placed on a platen glass 2. Plural infrared ray- reflective sensors 4 are buried in prescribed position of a platen cover 1 as shown by (1)-(6) in the figure, and an infrared ray-transmissive film 6 is inserted between the original 3 and sensors 4. With respect to each infrared ray- reflective sensor 4, a light emitting part 4a and a light receiving part 4b are provided in a recessed part 5, which is provided in the platen cover 1, through a spacer 7. The reflected light is inputted to light receiving parts 4b in the area where the original 3 exists, but the reflected light is not inputted in the area where the original 3 does not exist. とを特徴とする複写機の原稿サイズ検出装置に関するも

4)を埋設状に取り付けるための凹所(5)が設けられ
ており、これら凹所(5)内に配設される前記センナ(
4)は、発光部(4a)と受光部(4b)とで構成され
、かつ、プラテンカバー(1)のプラテンガラス側面に
被着される赤外線透過フィルム(6)との間にスペーサ
(7)を介在して取り付けられて、前記原稿(3)との
距離が最大感度となる検出距離を確保している。この場
合、前記センサ(4)の特性は第2図に示す曲線で表わ
されるので、検出距離を、ハにすることにより、センサ
(4)の最大感度を得ることができる。

検出信号を図示しない給紙装置に伝達して、原稿サイズ
に対応する用紙の給紙がなされる。

原稿サイズを第5図に示す組み合せ表の如く検出するこ
とができる。

るとともに、処理能力の向上を図ることができる。また
、センサは赤外線透過フィルムによって保護されるため
、損傷やごみ等の付着によって機能が低下する虞れがな
(、長期にわたって所期の機能を維持することができる
などの優れた効果が得られるので、その利用価値は顕著
である。
