Abstract

PURPOSE:To discriminate an originating subscriber and to charge the subscriber accurately wherever he/she calls by reading an ID card issued to the subsriber through a card reader attached to an extension telephone connected to a private branch exchange. CONSTITUTION:A card reader 2 and a PB signal generator 3 can be switched by a changeover switch 4 for each extension telephone 1 connected to a private branch exchange 5. When the telephone 1 is hooked off and dialed to call an outside line, the switch 4 is automatically switched. An originating subscriber puts his/her ID card into the reader 2 for read-out of data. This data is converted into PB signals by the generator 3. These PB signals are received by a PB signal receiver 7 of the exchange 5. A central processor 6 recognizes the originating subscriber and charges him/her. In such a way, the accurate charging is possible wherever the subscriber calls. This method is also available with a call given from a from excepting the subscriber's own room in a hotel, etc.

The caller first takes the extension telephone 1 off-hook and dials to talk to an outside line. Then, the automatic changeover switch 4 is switched to the card reader 2 side. Next, when the caller reads the card into the card reader 2, the read caller ID is converted into a PB signal by the PB signal generator 3,
It is sent to the private branch exchange 5 side. On the private branch exchange 5 side, the PB signal receiver 7 receives the PB multiplied signal, and the central processing unit 6 recognizes the caller and charges the caller (Effects of the Invention) Call fee charging according to the present invention As explained above, the method is to attach a card reader to each of multiple extension telephones connected to a single private branch exchange, and charge the card read into the card reader, so that calls can be made from any extension telephone. Even if you make a call, the person making the call will be billed correctly.
