Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the assembling of a piston and a connecting rod and prevent them from being damaged upon assembling by a method wherein the retaining groove of a piston pin, a protuberance formed in the penetrating hole in one side of a U-washer and the through hole of the connecting rod are engaged in the hollow section of the piston. CONSTITUTION:Upon connecting a piston 1 to a connecting rod 6 a U-washer 10 and the small end 8 of the connecting rod 6 are inserted into the hollow section 2 of the piston 1 respectively at first and the penetrating holes 3, 13 of the piston 1, the piston penetrating hole 11 of the U-washer 10 and the through hole 7 of the connecting rod 6 are fallen in a line. Then, the piston pin 4 is inserted into the penetrating hole 3, the through hole 7 and the penetrating hole 13 sequentially and respectively. The protuberance 12 of the U-washer 10 is engaged with the retaining groove 5 of the piston pin 4 to stop the pivoting of both parts, further, the ceiling surface 5a of the retaining groove 5 is abutted against the protuberance 12 and thereby preventing drop of piston pin. According to this method, the assembling of the piston pin 4 and the connecting rod 6 may be facilitated and the damage of the piston pin 4 upon assembling may be prevented.
