Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明は保護潤滑剤組成物に関する。さらに具体的には
、本発明は、移動表面間の摩擦を減らすだけでrc (
、密着している表面間によく浸透し、移行も(7くは分
解することなく ’PJI fl’5j滑表面に留−止
り、しかも表面を腐食から保護する組成物に関する。
−発  明  の  背  景 最近ダ0年間に、機械部品間のJゾ擦お」:び摩耗を減
らす潤滑油とl〜ての石油留分の+′J−能を向」ニさ
せたり石油留分にとってかわるものとして、非常に数多
くの油添加剤や合成潤滑油が開発されてきた。酸化防止
剤、銹止め添加剤、摩耗防止剤、および清浄剤のような
添加剤を用いて石油系潤滑油の性能を向上させたり、そ
の使用範囲を広げたりしている。
例えば、酸化防止剤は普通、硫黄、窒素、燐を含む有機
化合物あるいはアルキルフェノールであり、これらはヒ
ドロペルオキシドの生成を妨たけ、これによりスラッジ
、フェノおよび有機酸が潤滑油中に出現するのを遅らせ
、潤滑油の寿命をのばず。清浄剤は、自由粒子に吸着し
それら粒子を溶液中に保つことにより油不溶性化合物が
被潤滑表面に高温で付着するのを防止する作用をなす。
合成潤滑油は、従来の潤滑油で潤滑しても効果がないか
経済的でない環境用に開発された。例えることが確かめ
られている。他方、合成潤滑油は特有の欠点をもってい
る。例えばシリコーン油は、鋼と鋼とがこすれる環境で
は潤滑性に劣ることが多く、潤滑油作用において潤滑性
が然程重決な因子でなし・歯車やころ軸受にもっとも有
用であった。
近年、石油の入手が容易でなくなったことから、石油留
分の量を少なくした潤滑油を工夫したり、多目的能を有
する合成潤滑油を開発することへの関心が高捷っている
。このような関心は、多数の新し℃・商業的潤滑油の開
発に集中したが、高浸透性および高潤滑性を有するとと
もに低移行性(マイグレーション)および耐食性を有す
る万能潤滑剤は寸だ見出されていない。
発  明  の  要  旨 本発明者らは、シール油、金属、例えばリチウム、ナト
リウム、アルミニウム、カルシウム、バリウムなどの脂
肪酸石けん、ミネラルスピリット、およびナフテン酸金
属塩よりなる潤滑剤組成物が11述[7た性質すべてを
独特な優れた組合せで発(」することを見出した。さら
に、この組成物の性能は、成分計お土び他の添加剤を適
切に選択することに、Lって、神々の潤滑用途に応じて
変えることができる。
従って、本究明の目的は、耐食性を有する潤滑剤組成物
をJj、!、供することにある。
木−究明の他の目的は、良好4C浸透性を有するが、使
用中に被損M?表面から流れ去ることのなし・潤滑剤組
成物を提供することにある。
本発明の別の1]的は、非石油系利旧を大きな割合で含
有する多1j的潤滑油を提供することにある。
これらの目的および他の目的は、本発明によれば、 (1)  シール油、 (11)  ミネラルスピリット、 (1ii1  ナフテン酸金属塩、および(ivl  
金属の脂肪醜行けん よりなる保護潤滑剤組成物によって達成される。
好適例におし・ては、上記組成物がさらに、潤滑性およ
び浸透性を高めるシリコーン油も含有する。
もっとも好ましい例においては、組成物がさらに、極圧
添加剤、例えば硫化油、および界面活件剤、例えば油溶
性乳化剤も含有する。
本発明の保護潤滑剤組成物を製造するには、シール油と
ミネラルスピリットを合わせ、ナフテン酸金属塩を加え
、次℃・で金属の脂肪醜行けんを加え、均質とするのに
もし必要なら熱を加え、こうして流体潤滑生成物を得る
。これを溶剤または噴射剤で希釈してポンプ送給または
噴霧可能な潤滑油f:得ることができ、この潤滑油は密
着部品間への浸透、潤滑性、耐食性、および被潤滑領域
からの流出もしくは移行防止に優れている。
本明卸!書で使用する用語「シール油」は、周知の潤滑
油、鉱油および沸点範囲的270〜370℃の高沸点石
油留分を包含するものとする。本明細書で使用する用δ
4j l−ミネラルスピリット」は、石油精製技術に訃
し・て伝統的にミネラルスピリットとして知られる低沸
点石油留分(沸点範囲約75θヘ一、22θ℃)たけ′
Cなく、UホワイトスピリットJ、「ナフサ」、1低沸
点溶剤」、軽油、および後述する通りの本究明の潤滑剤
組成物に含1れる他の成分の作用を調第11さぜるか併
立可能にする溶剤的性質を有する他の混合炭化水素溶剤
性たに1、単独の通常液体の低分子−潅炭化水素も包含
するものとする。
/−ル油お、1ひミネラルスピリット成分は一緒になっ
て本発明の基本潤滑油の主要部分全構成する。相対的割
合は重要ではなく、使用者の判定の用層要件に従って変
わる。シール油を本組成物のキャリヤ油、即ち基油とみ
なすことができる。脂肪醜行けんを良好に分散させるた
めには、全組成物700重量部当り5重量部以上のミネ
ラルスピリット成分が必要である。低沸点ミネラルスピ
リットは使用中に蒸発するので、ミネラルスピリット成
分の割合が犬きくなると、組成物が流動しやすい潤滑油
から非移行性潤滑油に変わる速度が影響を受ける。
脂肪醜行けんを石油留分に加えるのはグリースを形成す
る方法どして周知である。本発明に脂肪醜行けんを用い
るのも、本潤滑剤組成物にゲル的な性質を与えるためで
あるが、驚くべきことには、石油留分と金属石けんのゲ
ルにナフテン酸金属塩を加えると浸透性の優れた低粘度
液体となることを見出した。前述したように、潤滑剤組
成物の低沸点部分が蒸発するとき、グリース状コンパウ
ンドが部品および表面を継続して潤滑し保穫している。
このようにして本組成物の低沸点成分がそのま\残って
いる間は浸透性潤滑油が蒋られ、そして低沸点成分が蒸
発した後には潤滑兼保護生成物が残る。
本発明に用いるのに適当な脂肪醜行けんは、リチウム、
ナトリウム、アルミニウム、カルシウム、バリウムなど
の金属の脂肪醜行けんである。アルミニウム石けんが好
適である。市販品としては、例えばWiLco Che
mical corp、から販売されているAluma
gcl (商標名)がある。石けんの使用−■、はノー
ル油成分をゲル化するのに十分でなければならない。好
適例では、全組成物700重量部肖り約70〜IIO重
量部が適当であり、20重量部が最適である0 本組成物に適当なナフテン酸金属塩は、従来塗料にドラ
イヤとして用いられて℃・るのと同じ化合物であり、ナ
フテン酸マグネシウム、カルシウム、コバルト、亜鉛、
カドミウム、バリウムおよび鉛/(どが挙げらλ1、る
。ナフテン酸亜鉛が好ましい。
ナフテン酸金属塩は本組成物に1(il1食性もi−j
える。
ナフテン酸J1+i! k組成物に添加するのは脂肪醜
行け/、7より前でも後でもよいが、ゲル化した組成物
の混合が困≠11になるのを避けるため、石けんより前
にナフテン酸塩を加えるのが好ましい。十分なナフテン
酸塩を加えて、石けんの添加後に潤滑組成物を流体状態
に維持しなけ」tげならない。好適例では、全組成物7
00重量部当り約20〜700重量部が適当であり、約
23〜g、ダ重闇:部が最適である。
好適例においては、シリコーン油も添加して浸透性およ
び潤滑性を向上させる・このようf、g y IJl−
13 ルキルである)の反復単位を有するメチルアルキルポリ
ンロキサンである。好適なメチルアルキルシリコーン油
は炭素原子数グ〜/gの置換基を有する。即ち上式中の
1(がブチル、ペンチル、ヘキシルなどである。このよ
うな組成物は米国特許第3XH9gll−号に記載され
ている。
潤滑剤組成物を製造する場合、代表的には石油留分成分
、即ちシール油およびミネラルスピリットを反応容器内
で一緒にし、次いでナフテン酸塩を加える。tito℃
前後に加熱すれば、通常粘着しやすい粘稠な物質である
ナフテン酸塩を分散させやすい。脂肪醜行けんを加え、
加熱を約乙θ〜90℃丑で続ける。典型的な例では、脂
肪醜行けんが溶液(約5θ〜乙θ℃)に躊は込むにつれ
て混合物が増粘し、その後さらに加熱を続けると低粘度
になる。シリコーン油を加える場合には、石けんの後で
乙θ〜90°Cの範囲で加えるのが最善である。
混合物が室l!iA ’l:で冷却すると、それは濃縮
濶/け油であり、こJし全通常高い製造温度では揮発す
るところのミネラルスピリットまたは浴剤を追加して希
釈することができる。本組成物は、エアゾールヌプレー
にj14川し易くするようにプロパンのようf、[噴射
剤と組合せることもできる。
本組成物に冷加してその性能を特定の潤/it用途に合
うように変えることのできる他の添の11剤には、例乏
は潤?f’J油の荷重支持力を高める1−極圧]添加剤
、例えば硫化油および他の周知の硫黄、燐および・・1
ゴゲン含−f1化合物;耐水性を改良し他の添加剤を分
散させる界面活性剤;および組成物の希釈剤として働ら
くか組成物/噴射剤パンク−ジのiiJ燃tlを低く−
する浴剤または脱脂剤、例えば塩化メチレンがある。
本発明の4111滑剤組成物は、多目的用滑油として金
属」。・よび金属部品に、4たは自由積載j′lI4品
、jたは一般的に従来の潤滑油が使用されるところには
どこでも、ポンプ送給捷たは噴霧(スプレー)すること
ができる。本発明の組成物は表面から水を押しのけ、部
品を摩擦による摩耗および腐食から保護する。本発明の
好適例が試験した幾つかの市販スプレー間滑油1こり性
能が優れて(・ることを確かめた。
当業者が本発明の実施態様を一層よく理解できるように
、以下に実施例を限定としてではなく例示として示す。
部は重量部。
実施例/ 、27部部のシール油(沸点範囲3/g〜乙10下、U
nion ()il Co、)と700部のMiner
al 5pirits ?5(沸点範囲3.79〜39

Alumagel (アルミニウム石けん、Witc。
Chem 1cal co、商標名)を混合し、S0°
Cに加熱した。この温度でゲルが生成した。30部のナ
フテン酸亜鉛を加え、混合して700センチストークス
の流体ヲつくった。60部のメチルアルキルポリシロキ
サン油(General Electric Co−)
、63部の硫化油(13、書ト(・’l’l”、 Ke
il Co、)および10部の界面活性剤(八nIo;
+do2C−75、Armak ChemicalIn
c−)も加えた。、Fl後に汐00部のMiner;1
15pirits75 を加えた。
得られた潤滑剤組成物はブルックフィールド(Broo
kfield ) lLV’r”粘+X =−+を用1
.−てユθl’ 1ml、No、 /スピンドルで測定
して、ブルックフィールド粘度70センチストークスで
ある。/り0℃に/Is分間加熱した後の固形分は約7
35%である。
コつのV形ブロックを回転ビンの両(1!If K−押
伺けてなるファレノクス(Falex )試験機で潤滑
性を測定した。ビンは29Orpmで回転し、V形ブロ
ックを一定割合で増加する圧力でビンに押イτ1ける。
V形ブロックの圧力をポンドで測定するとともに、ビン
のトルクを測定する。■形ブロックの圧力が増加するに
つJl、てトルクが増加する。
側°゛ノ土に4X、I /i“r油膜が存在する限りは
、V形ブロックの圧力とトルクが増加して潤滑油を押し
のけ金属と金属の接触が生じる時点丑では摩耗がない。
この潤滑不良が起ったとき、摩耗が生じるが、圧力が増
加しても、トルクははソ一定に留址る。この後トルクが
急に増加し、最終的にはかじりきすによりビンが破壊さ
れる。
これらの実施例の目的にあわせて、丁度トルクの急速な
増加が413しるとき、即ち、潤滑油が切れる時点で圧
力およびトルクを測定する。トルクをブロック圧力で割
り、ファレノクス試験機の定数(、,2ヲ72乙)を掛
けることにより、これらの測定値から摩擦係数を求める
。摩擦係数が低けJしば低い程、潤滑油は良好である。
上記組成物について鋼で行ったファレノクス試験は摩擦
係数00g/を−匂え、この値はこのタイプの他の市販
利料についての摩擦係数約θ//に十分匹敵する。
本潤滑剤組成物で被覆した鋼パネルを塩水噴霧キャビネ
ットで耐食性(=’tcついても試験した。別の試験で
は、清浄にし被覆したパネルを2%塩水溶液にに日間浸
漬し、取出し、洗い、そして錆を調べた。上記組成物で
被覆したパネルはいずれの試験でも錆をほとんど丑たは
まった〈示さなかった。
