Claims

In an electroslag melting furnace in which a non-consumable electrode faces into a water-cooled mold from above, a through-hole is formed in a part of the bottom wall of the water-cooled mold, and a water-cooled surface plate that can move up and down is arranged below the through-hole. An electroslag melting furnace characterized in that the water-cooled surface plate is supported by an elevating device, and a recess is formed on the inner surface of another portion of the bottom wall of the mold at a position corresponding to the non-consumable electrode.
