Abstract

PURPOSE:To safely work without providing a scaffold or the like, by a method wherein an inner structural member of the ship's hull is cut out to the outside as a hull part integral with an outer structural member provided in proximity thereto, and after replacing or repairing the inner structural member, the entire body of the hull part is returned to its original position and fitted in situ. CONSTITUTION:Girder members 1 provided as inner structural members of the ship's hull which have to be replaced and an upper deck 2 provided as the outer structural member in proximity to the girder members 1 are outwardly cut out as an integral hull part (block) together with longitudinal frames 3, and are fed out by a crane. The hull part is tentatively placed on land in a reversed condition, and the girder members 1 are replaced. After replacement is completed, the hull part is returned to its original position in the ship's hull, and is fitted in situ. Accordingly, it is unnecessitated to provide any scaffold and to work at high places, and the inner structural member of the ship's hull can be replaced safely and efficiently.

Conventionally, in the repair work of the hull, especially Figure 1 (longitudinal cross-sectional view)
In a tank with a hull like that shown in Figure 2 (cross-sectional view), the girders 1, ribs 3, and bulkheads 7, 8 on the left and right sides of the top of the tank
A large number of partial replacement works such as these are occurring.

These girder materials 1. When replacing and repairing the rib cage 3 and bulkheads 7, 8, etc., it is necessary to make an opening of the required size in the deck 2 in order to cut out and transport the defective parts and to bring in new parts to be replaced. The removed defective parts are moved to the above-mentioned opening using an air winch or chain block, and then carried out of the ship through the opening using an air winch or a crane.

With such conventional construction methods, there are many difficulties in cutting out defective parts and installing new parts on site, and additional work such as constructing scaffolding is required for these works and for carrying in and out of each part. Furthermore, the above-mentioned construction and incidental works are carried out at high places, making them extremely dangerous.
