Abstract

PURPOSE:To switch different TV systems automatically, by counting a horizontal synchronizing signal of a TV signal, and switching the recording and reproducing state according to the count value. CONSTITUTION:A TV signal to be recorded and applied to a terminal 1 or 2, or a TV signal reproduced from a head at playback is applied to a synchronizing separation circuit 4 via a changeover switch 3. The signal is separated into a horizontal synchronizing signal and a vertical synchronizing signal at the circuit 4, the horizontal synchronizing signal is applied to a counter 5 as a clock signal and the vertical synchronizing signal is applied to an adder 6. The horizontal synchronizing signal is sequentially counted at the counter 5 and if signal missing is present in the playback signal, it is reset by an output of the adder 6. When the count value of the counter 5 reaches >=228, after all, when it is a television signal of the PAL system, a described output is generated.
