Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as an intermediate for the organic synthesis of physiologically active substance, etc., by the dehydrogenation reaction of 1,2,3-cyclohexanetriol in the presence of a hydrogen acceptor such as dially ether, using a platinum group metal catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: Pyrogallol is prepared by the dehydrogenation reaction of 1,2,3- cyclohexanetriol in the presence of a platinum group metal catalyst (pref. Pd, Rh, etc. doped with an alkali metal compound and Te, Au, etc.). The reaction is carried out in the presence of pref. 0.5W5mol of a hydrogen acceptor per 1mol of 1,2,3-cyclohexanetriol. The hydrogen acceptor is e.g. an acetylene compound, an olefin compound, a cycloolefin compound, an aromatic compound, etc.
