Abstract
PURPOSE: To extremely reduce a change in Al and S contents by using MgF2- base slag when steel or alloy contg. Al and S is remelted using electroslag.
CONSTITUTION: When steel or alloy contg. Al and/or S is remelted using electroslag, slag contg. ≥45wt% MgF2 as a component is used. As a result, the loss of Al and S can be inhibited remarkably in the remelting process, a change in the Al and S contents of the resulting remelted ingot can be reduced remarkably, and the ingot is made homogeneous.
