Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formulaI(R is H or CH3).
EXAMPLE: The compound of formula II.
USE: A modifier for a synthetic resin in a printing ink, adhesive, etc., capable of improving the mechanical properties of a cured article, and suitable for dental use.
PROCESS: Glycerol di(meth)acrylate of formula III is reacted with 2,2,4-trimethylhexamethylene diisocyanate at a molar ratio of 2:1 in the presence of a catalyst, e.g. dibutyltin laurate, to give the compound of formulaI. The reaction temperature is 100°C or below, preferably 20W90°C. The starting raw material compound of formula III is easily obtained by reacting glycidyl (meth)acrylate with (meth)acrylic acid.
