Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled composition having improved flame retardance, mechanical properties, and electrical insulating properties, comprising specific amounts of a ricinoleate type polyol, polyisocyanate compound, aluminum hydroxide, and red phosphorus.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A ricinoleate type polyol (an ester of ricinoleic acid with a polyhydric alcohol, e.g., diol, etc., such as castor oil, etc.) is fully blended with (B) a polyisocyanate compound (e.g., tetramethylene diisocyanate, etc.) in a total amount of components A and B of 25W65wt% (a blending ratio of component A to B gives preferably an equivalent ratio of isocyanate group or curable functional group to hydroxy group of 0.8W1.6), (C) 20W60wt% aluminum hydroxide (may contain ≤2/3 magnesium hydroxide) and (D) 2.5W30wt% red phosphours using a three-roll mill, for example, at room temperature W90°C, to give the desired composition. When this composition is heated at 70W200°C, it is cured easily.
USE: Electrical insulating materials.
