Abstract

PURPOSE: To heighten the efficiency of threading, by turning a cutting tool by 180° around an axis at the end of its cutting travel and then reversing a work to repeat threading operation.
CONSTITUTION: While a work 11 is being rotated, a cutting tool 12 is moved in parallel with the axis 13 of rotation of the work 11 and also moved into the work by a prescribed cutting-in quantity synchronously with the rotation of the work to make a thread on it. At the end of the travel of the cutting tool 12, it is turned by 180° around an axis perpendicular to said axis 13 of rotation. The work 11 is then reversed. At the same time, the cutting tool 12 is moved back in parallel with the axis 13 of rotation to repeat threading operation.
