Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve thermal impact resistance of an O2 concn. detecting element or the like in waste combustion gases and to prevent cracking, peeling, etc. by using a heat resistant ceramic substrate, containing a stabilizer in solid electrolyte and using ZrO2 set with cubic crystal ratios in a specific range.
CONSTITUTION: An electrolyte layer 3 contg. ≥ one kinds of oxides such as Y2O3, Er2O3, CaO or MgO in an oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte and the balance ZrO2, and having ratios of cubic crystals of ZrO2 at 40.0W65.0% in the value expressed by the equation is provided on a heat resistant ceramic substrate 1 of alumina or the like, whereby a membrane construction type O2 concn. detecting element is produced. More specifically, platinum paste is printed on an uncalcined sheet substrate of alumina to form an uncalcined reference electrode 2. Next, a mixture 3 of said solid electrolyte powder and org. vehicle is formed by covering the electrode 2, and a measuring side electrode 4 is coated and formed by platinum paste on the mixture 3. If such uncalcined laminate is calcined at prescribed temps. the element of good durability causing no cracking and the like against thermal impact is obtained.
