Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a high tension wire rod of superior relaxation characteristics with good efficiency at a low cost by subjecting a material to be rolled to precision finish rolling with finish rolling mill groups then to cooling at rates above the critical cooling rate to have martensite structure followed by tempering and warm working. CONSTITUTION:A material to be rolled is subjected to precision rolling with at least finish rolling mill groups within the range of <=0.1mm. diametral tolerance and <=+ or -0.1mm. dimensional accuracy. After the precision finish rolling, it is cooled at the rates above the critical cooling rate for the material to be rolled to turn the structure to martensite. Thence, it is subjected to tempering and warm working processes continuously. In this way, the high tension wire rod of high relaxation characteristics contg. <=0.4 carbon is produced.
