Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of air bubbles, reduce the particle size of an ink droplet and enhance resolusion by a method wherein a vibration transmitting medium is filled in a pressure chamber having a vibrating part of a small area at a place opposite to a vibrator, and the vibration is transmitted to and concentrated on the vibrating part through the transmitting medium. CONSTITUTION:When an electrical signal in the shape of a sinusoidal wave is fed to a piezoelectric vibrator 10, the vibrator 10 is curved outward during a phase range 0 pi/2 so that a thin plate 13 is curved to the side of a horn-shaped pressure chamber 11. Then, as the phase proceeds in the range of pi/2 pi 3pi/2, the vibrator 10 is largely curved inwardly to the pressure chamber 11 side, and the vibration is transmitted to the thin plate 13 through the transmitting medium 14 in the chamber 11. In this case, since the chamber 11 is hornlike in shape, the vibration of the vibrator 10 is concentrated on the thin plate 13 in an amplified condition. By the amplified vibrarion, the thin plate 13 is largely curved to the side of an ink layer 16 to compress the ink toward an orifice 17, thereby projecting an ink column 19 outward. Finally, during a phase range of 3pi/2 2pi, the thin plate 13 is returned to the initial position and the ink droplet 20 is caused to fly.
