Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the ability of a fixing device sufficiently and reduce the time for copying infeasibility by changing a prescribed normal value in correspondence to atmospheric temps. CONSTITUTION:A fixing roller 2 is constituted to, for example, 400mm. length and 50mm.phi diameter by using Al for a mandrel material and providing a ''Teflon '' layer of about 20mum on the surface thereof. This roller 2 is heated with, for example, a 500W heater 1, and a pressurizing roller 3 of 50mm.phi diameter provided with an elastic layer of 45 deg. rubber hardness tester and 5mm. thickness is brought in rolling contact therewith, whereby the fixing device is constituted. In the figure, copying paper is shown by 4 and a toner by 5. Then, the surface temp. of the roller 2 starts lowering upon starting of copying, and attains 160 deg.C after copying of, for example, 100 sheets. Hence, the normal value for temporary stopping of operation is also lowered coupled with lowering of the fixing limiting temp. in accordance with a rise in atmospheric temp., and therefore the ability of the fixing device is effectively utilized and the time for copying infeasibility is reduced.
