Abstract

PURPOSE: To offer a low-cost printer provided with an automatically setting sheet-feeder excellent in operability, by driving a cam fo sheet-setting operation and a platen with one motor capable of normal and reversal rotation through a couple of unidirectional clutches which move along different directions together.
CONSTITUTION: A unidirectional clutch 23 applies rotation to a platen 1, only when a motor 5 normally rotates. Another unidirectional clutch 24 applies rotation to a cam 7, only when the motor 5 reversely rotates. A sheet is inserted into a space between guide plates 10, 11, an automatically-setting button is pushed-on to reversely rotate the motor 5, and a resist click 19 is brought into contact with the platen 1 so that the top end of the sheet is arranged in parallel to the axis of the platen by the resist click 19. When feed rollers 12, 14 come in contact with the platen 1 through the sheet, the resist click 19 is kept away from the platen 1, and the motor 5 is normally rotated to rotate the platen 1. Thus, the top end of the sheet is set at a typeprinting position. The motor 5 intermittently rotates along the normal direction to feed the sheet on the platen.
