Abstract
PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of an oscillation stopping period as well as to enable to easily return to the normal state when the oscillation stopping period is generated by a method wherein the inverter device is constituted so as to have its base current sufficiently maintained even in a low temperature environment. CONSTITUTION:The attenuation of the base current of a pair of transistors 6 and 7 is prevented by discharging the electric charge accumulated on a capacitor 22 of a constant circuit 21 which is connected to the output side of a rectifying and smoothing circuit 12. To be more precise, when the ambient temperature is low, the oscillation is instantaneously stopped in the vicinity of the reignition of arc of a discharge lamp 18 and the induced voltage of a winding 5d drops, the positive terminal voltage of the capactor 22 is sufficiently increased as compared with the node voltage of resistors 16 and 17, and the capacitor 22 discharges the accumulated electric charge through the intermediary of a constant-voltage diode 24 and a resistor 25. Through these procedures, the base current of the transistors 6 and 7 can be maintained.
