Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent applied electric current from flowing into molten metal when the metal passed through a nozzle, by forming an electrically insulating layer at the molten metal flow-path of a pouring nozzle and, by applying electric current between upper and lower end parts of the nozzle. CONSTITUTION:Both upper and lower end parts 1, 1' of a nozzle are constituted of electrically conductive refractory materials, and the central part in the axial direction of the nozzle is doubled with an inner layer 2 and an outer layer 3, and at the molten metal flow-path. an electrically insulated layer 4 is formed. The inner layer 2 is made of resistance-heating refractory materials, and the outer layer 3 formed at the outer periphery of the layer 2, is constituted of nonconductive refractory materials. Accordingly, when electric current is applied between the upper and lower end parts 1,1' from a heating electric source 6 through a lead wire 5, the resistance-heating body of the layer 2 is heated and the path of the molten metal is heated through the insulating layer 4. Therefore, the temp. drop of the molten metal passing through the nozzle is prevented, and the flow of applied electric current into the molten metal is prevented perfectly by the insulating layer 4.
