Abstract

PURPOSE: To make descaling uniformly and improve work efficiency by coiling a hot-rolled steel plate at specified low temperature, and after cold-rolling at specified low rolling reduction passing it through brushing rolls.
CONSTITUTION: A hot-rolled steel plate 1 coiled at low temperature of ≤500°C after hot rolling is uncoiled from an uncoiler 2, and cold-rolled and cold-worked at ≤20% rolling reduction to form fine cracks in scales on the surface of the steel plate. The plate is then descaled by passing through a mechanical descaler 6 provided with brushing rolls 4 such as wire brushes and supporting rolls 5, and coiled to a coiler 7. The rolling reduction is specified since if it is ≥20%, descaling becomes difficult as scales are thrusted into the steel. Regarding coiling temperature, if temperature becomes ≥500°C, descaling rate at the edge of the hot-rolled steel plate declines.
