Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase sensitivity and to remarkably improve a responsive restoration property, by a method wherein a given additive is added to a lithiumferrite itself having a detecting capacity against a inflammable (reducing) gas. CONSTITUTION:An inflammable gas detecting element is prepared such that an additive containing 0.5-50mol%, based on the total amount of the additive, of at least 1 of Zn, Sn Ti, and W, which are converted into ZnO, SnO2, TiO2, and WO3, respectively, is added to a lithiumferrite (LiFe5O8) which has a spinel type crystalline structure and which itself has a detecting capacity against an inflammable (reducing) gas, and the addition is used as a gas-sensitive substance. The addition of a given additive to the lithiumferrite enables to increase a sensitivity and to sharply improve a responsive restoration property.
