Abstract

PURPOSE: To control the discharge rate of a gear pump at desired rate within certain range regardless of the rotation speed change by providing an orifice on the part of the discharge system and guiding the differential pressure between upstream and down stream of said orifice to the both sides of a movable follower gear.
CONSTITUTION: A follower shaft 13 is integrally provided to a follower gear 6, said follow shaft 13 being axially slidably supported by bushes 14 and 15 via bearing metals 14da and 15a, an orifice 7 being provided on the part of discharge system and the pressure at the upstream and the downstream of the orifice 7 being guided to the both sides of the follower gear 6. The pressure differential between the uptream and the downstream of the orifice 7 moves the follower gear 6 to change the width of engagement with a drive gear 5 thereby controlling the discharge rate of the pump at the desired rate within certain range regardless of the rotation speed change.
