Abstract

PURPOSE:To mold a bent pipe free of molding defects at a hgh efficiency by a method wherein a blowing device is provided for a pair of molds which hold an extruded parison therebetween, and air is blown under pressure into the interior of the parison at the instant the mold clamping operation is finished. CONSTITUTION:The parison prepared by melting a plastic by heating and then extruding the molten plastic into a hollow shape is held in a cavity 15 between a female mold 7A and a male mold 7B in a suspended condition by upper and lower pinch-off means 30, 31. At the instant the parison is held in said condition, compressed air is blown into the interior of the parison under pressure by the blowing device 27 separately provided for the mold, and after the lapse of an appropriate length of time, the compressed air inside the parison is released and circulated, contriving to accelerate the coolig of the parison. Accordingly, a bent pipe free of molding defects can be obtained by a short molding cycle.
