Abstract

PURPOSE: Specific amounts of tin chloride and antimony chloride are dissolved in alcohol, aqueous hydrochloric acid, acetone or their mixture and added to hot water, adjusted in pH to a specific value with an aqueous alkali to produce fine particles giving electrical conductivity to plastics and silicone rubber, when mixed.
CONSTITUTION: 78W783g/1 of tin chloride and 0.085W212g/1 of antimony chloride are dissolved in alcohol, aqueous hydrochloric acid, acetone or their mixture and the solution is added to hot water. At the same time, an aqueous alkali is added to adjust the pH of the reaction mixture to over 8 to precipitate fine particles of less than 0.2 micron average particle size with a composition of 0.1W20wt% antimony and the rest % of tin oxide.
