Abstract
PURPOSE: To separate and to obtain preferentially and selectively the same kind of an optically active substance as seed crystal, by adding crystal of hydrochloride hydrate of an optically active cysteine as seed crystal to an aqueous solution of DL-systeine converted into a hydrochloride hydrate in a saturated or supersaturated state.
CONSTITUTION: DL-Cystein is converted into a hydrochloride hydrate to give its aqueous solution, crystal (preferably having a crystal concentration of ≤30wt% and a particle size of ≥20 mesh for uniform stirring) of a hydrochloride hydrate of an optically active cysteine as seed crystal is added to the aqueous solution in the saturated or supersaturated state of the solution, or in the state of the supersaturated state (in order to give high-purity substance, the suppression to a low degree of supersaturation is important) one hydrochloride hydrate of D-or L- cysteine which exists in excess is crystallized, and the crystal as seed crystal added to the solution or the crystallized crystal is used as seed crystal. An optically active substance similar to the seed crystal is preferentially crystallized and separated from the mother liquor.
