Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare coenzyme Q useful as a remedy for cardiac insufficiency, rapidly, without side reactions, with simple operation, by the catalytic oxidation of reduced coenzyme Q in a hydrophobic solvent using manganese dioxide.
CONSTITUTION: Coenzyme Q is pepared by the catalytic oxidation of reduced coenzyme Q of formula (n is integer 1W12) (2,3-dimethyoxy-5-methyl-6-prenyl hydroquinone) in a hydrophobic solvent (e.g. nexane, petroleum ether, etc.) with manganese dioxide. The concentration of the reduced coenzyme Q is usually 1W20w/v%, pref. 10w/v%, and the reaction temperature is pref. 10W40°C.
