Abstract

PURPOSE:To decide accurately the degenerating range for an intermittent fault, by deciding the degenerating range including all suspected fault areas in case no coincidence is obtained between the 1st and 2nd results of diagnosis. CONSTITUTION:A detection of fault is carried out by a checking circuit 11 for units 1-3 that constitute an information process system. When an error is reported 41 to a system control processor 71, a diagnosis is given to the corresponding faulty unit by a diagnosis control circuit 12. The sign signal meaning a result of diagnosis is stored in a storage device 72. Furthermore the processor 71 makes the circuit 12 perform a diagnosis again. The second result of diagnosis is compared with the first result of diagnosis, and the fault of the relevant unit is decided as a fixed fault if a coincidence is obtained through the comparison. Thus a minimum degenerating range including the faulty area is decided; while the degenerating range including all suspected fault areas is decided when no coincidence is obtained through the comparison respectively.
