Abstract

PURPOSE:To process a resin in a crosshead die by shearing and to increase its enthalpy, by arranging a rotating orifice between a flow guide and a mandrel, while the rotating orifice has a polygon in cross section wtith each corner rounded to have a plurality of groups of arcs of a certain radius. CONSTITUTION:The crosshead die consists of the flow guide 14, which changes the direction of the flow of a resin fed from an extruder 100 to a horizontal direction, a cylinder 12 which is controlled with respect to the temperature, the mandrel 4 for shaping the resin, the rotating orifice 2 located between the mandrel 4 and the flow guide 14 and capable of being rotated by a rotating shaft 1, and cooling apparatuses 6, 40, 41. The shape of the rotating orifice in cross section is a polygon (for example a rounded triangle) with each corner rounded to have a plurality of groups of an arc of a certain radius. The molding material is given a shearing force between the rotating orifice and the cylinder and therefore the enthalpy is radically increased. This arrangement is suitable for a device feeding a crosslinkable resin or rubber in a continuous and stable manner.
