Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable an end surface of a workpiece to be ground at right angle without removing the workpiece by providing an end surface grinding wheel shaft in a surface grinder to rotate a table by 90°.
CONSTITUTION: An end surface grinding wheel shaft 21 is located after the completion of a predetermined surface grinding of a workpiece W. Then, a drive motor 35 is driven to rotatably drive the end surface grinding wheel shaft 21 and a cup grinding wheel 33 and the end surface A of the work W is ground with automatic or manual operation of a handle 11 for feeding a table left or right. After the completion of grinding the end surface A, an indexing table 19 is rotated to 90° with the work W being clamped so as to grind an end surface B at right angle to the end surface A of the work W. Thus, the end surfaces A, B of the work W are respectively indexed every time the table 19 is rotated by 90° for sequentially grinding the end surfaces at right angle to each other.
