Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled dye composition stable at high concentration, which comprises a specified disazo dye, urea, a water-soluble org. solvent or surfactant, and water.
CONSTITUTION: A yellow disazo dye of formulaI(wherein M1 is Li; M2 is Li or Na; X is >CO or a group of formula II; R1 and R2 are each hydroxyethyl or hydroxypropyl; -SO3M1 and -SO3M2 are at a position meta or para to the azo group) is made alkaline with soda ash, forming a homogeneous dye soln., which is deposited with addition of an acid and filtered, and the precipitate is washed with water. The press cake obtd. is dispersed in water and then dissolved by meutralization to pH of about 8 with addition of LiOH or a mixt. of LiOH and NaOH. After addition of 3W10wt% urea and 2W7wt% water-soluble org. solvent such as formamide and/or noninoic or anionic surfactant, 58W85wt% water is added to obtain a composition contg. 10W25wt% dye.
