Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the dehumidifying operation of the air conditioner by a method wherein when the cooling operation of the air conditioner is stopped, the humidifying operation thereof is performed by stopping all of the fans and a compressor of the air conditioner.
CONSTITUTION: The air conditioner is so constructed that a temperature controller 1 is provided, the room temperature Ts at the time of starting the operation of the air conditioner and the room temperature Tr during the operation thereof are detected and the operation and stoppage of the air conditioner are repeated at temperatures between a cut-in temperature Ts-A+1 and a cut-off temperature Ts-A. Thus, when the room temperature Tr falls below the cut-off temperature Ts-A, an inner fan motor 3, an outer fan motor 4 and a compressor motor 5 are all stopped. During the above repeated operation, the humidity in the room is controlled to a desired value as it falls and rises repeatedly. Consequently, the humidifying operation of the air conditioner is made possible practically by controlling the room temperature while keeping a simple coolant cycle for cooling and it is possible to obtain an air conditioner which is capable of performing both cooling and humidifying operations in a simple manner and at low cost.
