Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst which treats waste gases efficiently by a adding cerium and lanthanum onto an inorg. porous carrier, and calcining these to form composite oxide, then depositing platinum group metals thereon. CONSTITUTION:As the catalyst for removing NOx, CO, HC, etc. in waste gases simultaneously, cerium and lanthanum are added onto an inorg. carrier of alumina, etc., and these are calcined at above 700 deg.C to form the composite oxide of the general formula Ce1-xLaxO2-x/2 (where 0.3<=X<=0.5), after which platinum group metals are deposited thereon. Since such catalyst for waste gases is superior in activity performance for purification of waste gases and are superior in durability as well, it has industrially wide applications.
